YafaRay!

**YafaRay** is a free open-source montecarlo raytracing engine released under the LGPL 2.1 license . **Raytracing** is a rendering technique for generating realistic images by tracing the path of light through a 3D scene. A render engine consists of a specialised computer program that interacts with a host 3D application to provide specific raytracing capabilities on demand. The **YafaRay** engine can be used in the following 3D applications: Blender http://www.blender.org/,
Edificius , pCon-planner http://pcon-planner.com
and Wings 3D http://www.wings3d.com/.
You can download **YafaRay** binaries and the source code in the downloads section. http://www.yafaray.org/download

  • Radeon ProRender

  • Radeon ProRender (formerly AMD FireRender) is a powerful physically-based rendering engine that enables creative professionals to produce stunningly photorealistic images. Built on highly efficient, high-performance Radeon Rays technology, Radeon ProRender’s complete, scalable ray tracing engine uses open industry standards to harness GPU and CPU performance for swift, impressive results. The Radeon ProRender engine features an extensive native physically-based material and camera system to enable true design decisions with global illumination (including caustics!) Unlike other renderers, Radeon ProRender can simultaneously use and balance the compute capabilities of multiple GPUs and CPUs – on the same system, at the same time – and deliver state-of-the-art GPU acceleration to produce rapid, accurate results even on less-capable hardware. Radeon ProRender’s powerful combination of multiple OS- and hardware-compatibility, rendering capabilities and hardware efficiency helps drastically reduces the time required to deliver true-to-life images.Soon to be available as open source, freely available and distributable today, Radeon ProRender plug-ins are available for many popular 3D content-creation applications, including Autodesk® 3ds Max®, Dassault Systèmes SOLIDWORKS and Rhino®, with Autodesk® Maya® coming soon. Because it’s built on industry-standard OpenCL™, Radeon ProRender works across Windows®, OS X and Linux®, and supports AMD GPUs and CPUs as well as those of other vendors. »
